Press Release for March 5th First Friday

Our Press Focused class in the words of youth designer Liliana Herrera:
The Press Release class was very interesting and informative. I personally learned a few things about writing a press release and the requirements necessary for calling the press out for events like for our program's participation with Alameda Office of Arts Education-Arts is Education Month.

YOUTH BRING IN OAKLAND’S NEW FASHION ERA DISCOVER OAKLAND’S HIDDEN FASHION TALENTS AT FIRST FRIDAY ART IS EDUCATIONAL MONTH.  


OAKLAND CA MARCH 5TH ROCK PAPER SCISSORS COLLECTIVE 6:00 – 9:00 PM  


The Street Style Dream Seam School of Fashion is a program based around promoting professional practices among Oakland’s youth designers. Come out and see a professional live photo shoot, sewing demonstration featuring youth designers, and check out our class inventory.  


This event is an opportunity to interact with models, youth designers and entrepreneurs in the dynamic atmosphere of 1st Friday Art Walk. The program is sponsored in part by ACE Arts, Rock Paper Scissors Collective, Oakland Parks and Recreation, The City of Oakland's Cultural Arts and Marketing Department, Alameda Arts Fund, The Clorox Foundation, and the Depot for Creative Reuse. The Project is a Collaboration with Alameda County Office of Arts Education: Art is Education Month.

This past week journalist Allison Davis visited our program at Rock Paper Scissors to cover the fashion class for Oakland North, an online publication in North Oakland.


Special programatic thanks go out to Liliana Herrera and Naima Yi for initial release writing, MetWest participants for editing, and Veronica Sandoval for typing and final editing.
